Department Overview
The History Department, established in 2011, offers an undergraduate program (BA) with History Honours. With a dedicated team of three faculty members – Miss Chumthunglo T Jami, Miss Hetokali Zhimo, and Dr. Basant Giri – the department aims to provide quality education and foster a deeper understanding of historical events and processes.
Achievements
- Sheangpong W Konyak: CGPA 8.47, Ranked Top 10 across Nagaland in FYUGP examination 2025.
Activities and Events
- Field Trip to Dzukou Valley, Kohima Date: February 10–12, 2025
- Organized by History Department, Mount Mary College Participants: 13 students and 2 faculty members
Objectives
– To provide students with an experiential learning opportunity that complements their academic studies.
– To explore the historical and cultural significance of Dzukou Valley in relation to indigenous communities.
– To foster an appreciation for environmental conservation and the valley’s unique ecosystem.
– To promote intellectual curiosity and self- discovery beyond traditional classroom settings.
Outcomes
– Students gained firsthand exposure to historical narratives and ecological discussions relevant to Dzukou Valley.
– Participants developed a deeper understanding of the valley’s role in heritage and conservation.
– The interactive sessions provided valuable insights that reinforced classroom knowledge through real-world exploration.
– The experience left students with lasting memories, enriching their educational journey and broadening their perspectives.
