General guidelines for Debate

1. Two participants from each college.
2. The number of debaters will be finalised depending on the participation of the number of colleges.
3. The debate will consist of 2 teams- in favour and against the motion.
4. Each debater should come prepared for both in favour and against the motion which will be decided on the spot.
5. 1^st Round– Introductory/opening statement: Each speaker will be given 7 minutes

2^nd Round– Rebuttals: each speaker will be given 5 minutes

3^rd Round– Concluding remarks by the leader- 5 minutes

6. Code of Conduct
   1. Participants must adhere to the time limits.
   2. No personal attacks, offensive language or discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated.

Judging criteria

1. Content and Argumentation– Coherence of the arguments, use of evidence, logical reasoning, organized, clear, and easy to follow
2. Rebuttal and Refutation– Effective counterarguments and refutations, persuasive techniques
3. Delivery and Presentation– Speaking skills, including clarity, tone, pace; non-verbal communication, such as gestures and eye contact
4. Use of Evidence and Examples– Support of arguments with credible sources, data, and real-world examples
5. Adherence to Rules and Etiquette– Interpreting of arguments respectfully, conduct and demeanor, usage of language
6. Relevance to topic- Addressing key issues relevant to the topic
7. Engagement with the Audience: How well debaters engage with the audience and make their arguments relatable and compelling

Guidelines for Declamation

1. Two participants from each college.
2. Participants can select any quotation, speech or an excerpt of a speech that was delivered in public and perform.
3. Participants need not mimic the original speaker.
4. The selected quotation, speech or excerpt of the speech can be submitted in written format both online or at the reception desk at the time of arrival.
5. It should be minimum of 2 minutes and maximum of 3 minutes length.

Judging Criteria

1. Delivery: The speaker’s vocal tone, pace, clarity, effective use of gestures and body language to enhance the delivery.
2. Interpretation: How well the speaker understands and conveys the meaning and emotions of the original text.
3. Memorization: Accuracy in memorization and check if there is any hesitations, stumbles, or errors in the recitation.
4. Connection with the Audience: How well the speaker engages and connects with the audience. This includes eye contact, expression, and the ability to evoke emotions in the listeners.
5. Stage Presence: The speaker’s overall stage presence, including posture, confidence, and composure.
6. Originality: The speaker’s ability to bring a fresh perspective or unique interpretation to a well-known piece.
7. Articulation and Pronunciation: Speaker’s ability to enunciate words clearly and pronounce them correctly.
8. Costume and Props: Costumes and props can be used to enhance the overall presentation and help convey the message effectively. However, it should not overshadow, the spoken words and emotions conveyed during the declamation.
9. Timing: The speech should fall within the designated time limit.

Guidelines for Political Art Exhibition

1. 1-3 participants from each college.
2. It can be in any form of art such as painting, drawing, sketching, sculpture and photography.
3. The artwork should reflect any political theme such as human rights, social justice, environmental issues, economic inequality, ethnic and racial issues etc.
4. It should be submitted the reception desk at the time of arrival (A3 or larger size without frame)

Judging Criteria

1. Creativity and Originality: Level of creativity and originality demonstrated by the artist or photographer. Look for innovative and unique approaches to the subject matter.
2. Technical Skill: Technical proficiency in the use of tools and techniques relevant to the medium. This includes factors such as composition, lighting, focus, and use of color.
3. Concept and Message: Clarity and depth of the concept or message conveyed by the artwork.
4. Relevance to the theme: It will be assessed on how well the artwork relates to or interprets the theme.
